PUNE: The Airport police on Monday arrested a 29-year-old woman and booked her sister and their friend on the charge of extortion and cheating a realtor to the tune of Rs 24.29 lakh.
The incident happened at Viman nagar and Koregaon between September 4, 2021 and March 30 this year.
Assistant inspector Shivdas Lahane from Airport police said, “The 38-year-old realtor (name withheld) had executed an agreement with the arrested woman for renting his shop for running a beauty parlour in a housing society at Viman nagar.

He also gave a loan of Rs 4 lakh to the woman for business purpose.”
Lahane said, “The woman got friendly with the realtor and tried to develop close relations with him. She later started blackmailing him and threatened to file complaint against him and extorted Rs 19.55 lakh and gold ornaments on numerous occasions.”
“The realtor filed a complaint plea for taking action against the woman tenant after she lured him to prepare a “will deed” for transferring his flat and shop in her name, but in vain. We conducted a preliminary inquiry and registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code,” he said.
On the progress in investigation, the police officer said, “The woman had taken assistance of her sister in running the parlour. She had also transferred the money extorted from the realtor not only to herself but also her friend’s bank account.”
He added, the other suspects will be arrested as soon as possible.”
